Our personalized tours will start with picking you up at one of the designated locations listed on our website. After boarding our comfortable, air-conditioned bus, we will drive you to the Everglades or the Audubon Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary depending upon which tour you have chosen.
We will first drive to a location where you will be able to take an exciting air boat ride through the red mangrove mazes which make up part of the Everglades. Keep a sharp eye out for the North American Alligator which makes the area its home. The Everglades is also home to many species of wading birds.
Once we have concluded our boat ride, we will board our 11 passenger bus and take a historic drive through Everglades City to view the historic buildings and the local crab industry.
Our next stop will be for lunch at a traditional southern style restaurant that sits at the water's edge. Here you can relax while you view the Ten Thousand Islands and Everglades National Park from your table in the restaurant.
We will next drive to Everglades National Park and board a boat where you will be taken into the park for an exciting one and a half hour boat ride. This region is part of the largest mangrove area in the continental United States and provides habitat for manatees, dolphins, numerous species of birds, and a variety of marine life.
You will be accompanied by a University of Florida certified Florida Master Naturalist and licensed guide.
We will conclude our afternoon with a leisurely drive back to Naples.
Our first stop includes a photo opportunity at the smallest post office in the United States. We will then continue to our next
destination for an exciting ride aboard an airboat that will take us into the backwaters of the Everglades. We will travel on old Indian trails where Native Americans once paddled their cypress canoes. Observe the North American alligator in its natural habitat along with the Great Blue Heron, the Great White Egret, and many other species of birds.
While in the Big Cypress, we walk through an animal preserve where you will have an unique opportunity to see large North American crocodiles, alligators, Florida panthers, whitetail deer, plus more. You will also have a unique and fun opportunity to safely hold a small alligator while you learn about them.
We will travel through both the Picayune Strand State Forest and the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve which has been called "the Amazon of North America." As we go deeper into the Everglades, we will drive into the Big Cypress National Preserve where will see several different habitats that make up the ecosystems of Florida. The Big Cypress is made up of 720,566 acres of land and the preserve buffers the northern edge of Everglades National Park.
We will conclude our tour with a leisurely drive back to Naples.
Our tour will take you to the largest remaining sub-tropical; old growth bald cypress stands in North America, with trees that are estimated to be 700 years old. Some of these trees started growing during the Middle Ages, and they provide a canopy of 150 feet over the sub-tropical growth. The cypress's only other relatives are the Sequoia and Sequoiadendron genera which include the redwoods of California. The cypress branches are draped with mosses, lichens, air-plants, orchids, and ferns. You will enjoy a guided, leisurely walk through this magnificent habitat with a University of Florida certified Florida Master Naturalist and licensed guide.
Your tour price includes a souvenir guidebook of Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary so you can remember your experience in the “swamp” and the Everglades.
Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary is home to numerous species of wildlife and is one of the most exceptional ecosystems in the world. Corkscrew Swamp is considered the “crown jewel” of the National Audubon Society’s sanctuary system. It is the rookery to the threatened American Wood Stork and home for egrets, ibis, herons, vireos, buntings, and many other species of birds. You may hear the scream of the Red-shouldered Hawk or glimpse various species of woodpeckers as you walk through the cypress strand. Keep a sharp eye out and you might even see the American alligator in its natural habitat.
After your exciting adventure, you may want to explore the Audubon Nature Store for a gift.
Once we leave Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, we will take an unhurried ride back to your boarding location with many fond memories of your unique day.
